Our projects

For generations, the Patiño Foundation has worked to build a stronger and more united Bolivia. Through our projects in education, paediatric health, agroecology and culture, we pass on valuable knowledge, innovate to address today’s challenges, and create lasting impact within local communities. Together, we carry forward a mission of transmission, renewal and excellence.

Our Areas of Action

The Whole is in everything, and everything is in the Whole. Each drop of sap, each branch, holds the fullness of the entire tree. We are of the same wood. We all live on one single Planet, present in every grain of soil. We all learn in the same School, present in every book. We all rely on a single form of Health, present in every act of care. We all inherit one Culture, present in every tradition. Those who think globally and act locally can advance social, health, economic, environmental and cultural progress in Bolivia.

Think global, act local. More than a motto, it’s a compass and an active driver of impact. This guiding thread shapes each of our fields of expertise and commitment — allowing us to target, deploy and maximise concrete solutions in response to urgent needs, while creating, replicating and exporting success models rooted in forward thinking.

  • Education

Education is to the individual what revelation is to humanity. It can do everything. If not change life itself, it emancipates us and transforms our experience. It teaches us to know, to know how to do, to make known, and to know how to be.

Our activities in the field of education:

    • Promote quality, emancipatory education tailored to local and global challenges through the development of innovative, forward-looking programmes
    • Professionalise pedagogical skills, techniques and practices through continuous teacher training and peer exchange
    • Integrate pedagogical innovations and best practices into the Bolivian context through partnerships with international academic institutions
    • Open the doors of renowned higher education institutions in Bolivia and abroad to deserving students through scholarship allocation
  • Paediatric Health

One only grows well in good health—with access to nutritious food, attentive and quality care, recognition of special needs, and the warmth of a caring and protective family.

Our activities in the field of health:

    • Modernise infrastructure, paediatric hospitals and primary care centres through technical, structural and financial support
    • Improve treatment of severe childhood diseases and the quality of paediatric care through specialised programmes and protocols
    • Build capacity in intensive care and prevention through continuous training of paediatric doctors and nurses
  • Agroecology

There can be no homeland without fertile, arable, nourishing, regenerative land. If we are made of stardust, we are also dust of the soil—its gold, its flower and its salt. Everything comes from the earth and returns to it.

Our activities in the field of agroecology:

    • Encourage the adoption of sustainable, climate-resilient farming techniques through active and practical support to local farmers
    • Contribute to agroecological innovation in soil conservation, biodiversity and water management through funding of research and development projects
    • Strengthen smallholders’ capacity to market their products and access markets through the development of networks and agricultural cooperatives
  • Culture

Culture is both inherited and earned. What is true, meaningful culture if not the fusion of timeless knowledge and tireless observation of life? And what is a cultured person if not someone who gives meaning and cultivates sensitivity, who engages the mind with itself, and who does not deny beauty to humility?

Our activities in the field of culture:

    • Energise cultural life by organising events, exhibitions, concerts, talks and festivals with educational value and national scope
    • Provide spaces for artistic dissemination and the promotion of local culture by managing cultural centres in La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz
    • Promote Bolivia’s cultural uniqueness by supporting research projects, publications and initiatives that highlight the diversity of local traditions and cultural expressions
    • Enhance the country’s tangible and intangible heritage by restoring historic sites, passing on cultural knowledge, and preserving Bolivian archives and memory

Support our actions

Like a vine reaching the top of a tall tree by leaning on it, a project takes root and bears fruit by pooling knowledge and resources. It is through collective progress that models inspire and practices evolve. Supporting us strengthens and uplifts us—and carries you forward with us.
