Child health is a fundamental concern for the future of a country. In Bolivia, many children remain vulnerable to preventable diseases and malnutrition. For more than 50 years, the Patiño Foundation has been striving to guarantee access to quality healthcare, prevent childhood diseases and train healthcare professionals to ensure a lasting impact.
The Patiño Foundation takes a holistic approach to paediatric health, combining medical care, prevention, nutrition and training. The objective is twofold: to offer quality care to the most vulnerable children and to strengthen the capacities of healthcare professionals and families to prevent childhood diseases.
In many regions of Bolivia, access to medical care is limited by financial and geographical constraints. The Patiño Foundation implements appropriate solutions: reduced-rate or free consultations, vaccination campaigns, health check-ups and specialised care for the most disadvantaged children.
Prevention plays a key role in reducing infant mortality. The Foundation organises awareness days, hygiene workshops and medical follow-up programmes to detect pathologies at an early stage. Vaccination, growth monitoring and training families in preventive health play a key role in our actions.
Malnutrition remains one of the main causes of infant mortality in Bolivia. Our actions focus on the screening, treatment and nutritional rehabilitation of young children. The Foundation also supports families through nutritional advice and the distribution of fortified foods to ensure healthy growth.
Sustainable improvement in child health requires capacity building among those involved in the healthcare system. We collaborate with training establishments to offer specialisation programmes in paediatrics, nutrition and preventive care. By disseminating best practices, we contribute to raising standards in child care.
