Patiño Scholarships

Faced with the lack of qualified professionals in Bolivia, the Bolivian industrialist Simón I. Patiño (1860-1947) had the idea of creating the Simón I. Patiño University Foundation in La Paz in 1931. Patiño, with the main objective of training high-level Bolivian professionals that would allow the country to reduce its dependence on foreign specialists.

Since then, the Foundation has awarded more than 500 scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students to study abroad, with the commitment that upon completion of their studies, the students will return to Bolivia and apply all the knowledge acquired in the country.

Master's Scholarships in Switzerland and Belgium

The Simón I. Patiño Foundation offers scholarships in Switzerland and Belgium to professionals, women and men with bachelor’s degrees, who wish to broaden their knowledge through master’s degree courses to enrich their academic and work experiences once they return to Bolivia.

The 2024-2026 call for applications is currently open. The Patiño Foundation invites all Bolivian students to participate.
