The Patiño Foundation looks after the physical, mental and psycho-social well-being of Bolivian children through its pediatric health services. It carries out preventive, promotional, curative, rehabilitative, control/surveillance and research work on the patients it serves.

Historically, prioritizing the health of the child population responded to the concern and interest that Doña Albina expressed during her lifetime. She promoted a number of initiatives in this regard, both in Cochabamba and Oruro, and in the mining centers managed by her husband Don Simón. For the Patiño couple, health was a fundamental factor in the progress of the country and should be the focus of attention in the development of society as a whole.
This is how the Foundation began its work in the field of pediatric health, currently with three medical centers: the Albina R. de Patiño Children’s Hospital, the Albina R. de Patiño Center for Promotion and Prevention (both in the city of Cochabamba), and the Albina R. de Patiño Child Nutrition Center (in the city of El Alto), extending its activities to pilot projects nationwide.
Durante la gestión 2021, el Centro ha realizado casi 15.000 controles de crecimiento y desarrollo. Estos controles se completan con una medición de la TSH en los recién nacidos para determinar el funcionamiento de la tiroides, una radiografía de la cadera en los niños de 2 a 3 meses para detectar rápidamente posibles problemas congénitos, y un hemograma en niños de 6 a 12 meses para verificar que su sistema hematológico no presenta ninguna anomalía.
